Use of HVO for Co2 reduction

Together towards a sustainable future

As part of our sustainable strategy, we have established a unique alternating service between Bamberg and Homburg in collaboration with a major customer. On this 350 km route, we use HVO (hydrogenated vegetable oil) as a fuel to improve our carbon footprint and significantly reduce emissions. Since April 2022, our vehicles have been running with lower emissions, more reliably and with 100% capacity utilization of the loading space - an efficient and environmentally friendly solution for modern freight transport.

Why HVO?

HVO is an innovative, low-emission fuel that comes from renewable sources and can be used in conventional diesel engines without technical modifications. It is produced by a catalytic reaction in which vegetable oils are converted into carbon-neutral hydrocarbons.

This offers many advantages:

  • Up to 48% less GHG emissions compared to fossil diesel
  • Fully compatible with existing diesel engines
  • Can be used flexibly in different blends or as a pure fuel

HVO in use:  potential savings and environmental benefits

By using HVO and utilizing our vehicles to capacity, we achieve a significant reduction in emissions:

  • CO₂ reduction: diesel causes around 2.67 kg of CO₂ per liter, while HVO only emits 0.24 kg of CO₂ per liter.
  • With a consumption of 108 liters per day and 250 working days, this results in an annual CO₂ saving of around 131.2 tons.
